PORCELAIN PANCAKE ON A PORCELAIN PLATE IMITATING PAPER DIPOSAL PLATE
Hunger

Hunger. Systemic not only physical, but also emotional, economic, and cultural. The starting point is a simple domestic act that becomes a lens through which to examine class, access to resources, unpaid women’s labor (both domestic and caregiving), and broader social transformations. The pancake, a dish that travelled from aristocratic salons to the working-class kitchens of the Polish People’s Republic, reveals the scale of democratization while also exposing fractures within the social structure. In this way, art, though rarely accounted for in economic systems becomes woven into the fabric of social life, shaping it in ways that often go unnoticed.

Is art a pancake made in a moment of boredom, or a lifeline in times of crisis? Can the time devoted to creation be valued in an economy dominated by productivity? Is an economy grounded in relationality rather than transaction possible in the face of global crises? What truly nourishes us?
